NALF Makes Changes to Genetic Defect Policy
on October 3rd, 2012 at 9:03 amBoard Action Notice:
Board Action on AM, NH, CA and OS Defect Policies
On September 27, 2012, the Board of Directors of NALF voted to amend certain portions of its policies related to AM, NH, CA and OS, effective immediately. NALF’s administrative implementation of these changes will begin immediately and retroactively, while some complexities will require some time to execute.
Now, in order for any potential carrier bull to be eligible for registration, such animal must be tested and found to be free of that defect.
Similarly, in order to be eligible for registration, all potential carrier females must be tested. Tested females will be registered regardless of test results – but the pedigree of any carrier female will display a special “carrier” designation denoting its carrier status on both its registration papers and on the NALF website. Carrier females born after January 1, 2012 will not be eligible to record embryo transplant offspring.
This action amends policy in Rule Section VII. 6. B. 2.
